Now that Ireland is going through a huge road-building programme, and some of you are taking great photos of this, it would be great if you could upload these photos to wikimedia commons (the Roads in Ireland category) so that they can be used for documenting the building.

Also, if you've got any photos or other images of old roads, road-signs, traffic etc, please upload them to wikimedia commons for historical researchers.

Please don't upload any photos or scans that are still subject to copyright.

Photos you've taken yourself, or old photos from old family albums, shouldn't be a problem.

Is there a bulk uploader option? I have over 200 photos to upload!

I would love to see a site with photos of the different roads, the construction work, the roads before improvements, maps showing the new/improved routes etc. Would beat looking at disorganised and random photos on Sabre :P

This is an answer from the Wikimedia Commons FAQ page:
I have a lot of files. Can I do a batch upload, rather than one at a time?
Yes. The Commonist is a Java/BeanShell-based upload tool with a graphical user interface. It reportedly works well under Linux and MacOS, and should work on Windows too (although some people have reported problems under Windows).

For those comfortable with the Unix command line, a script by User:Nichalp, based on Eloquence's file upload script in Perl is suitable for most Unix, Unix-like, Linux or Mac OS X machines.

    Hope that makes sense!

This FAQ link should answer any other questions:

someone went to the trouble of putting up pre-construction photos and then roughly monthly progress ones from start date up to Sept 08 or there abouts.........could do with some updating now though
