    Anyone have one?
Really thinking about getting on for playing those small gigs where you dont have space for amps etc (getting sick of having to play it acoustic)
Ive heard you can run this guy right into the PA Desk, I have a monitor so I can hear myself back anyway, but I have to say it appeals to me!
    Any thoughts?
    Micka
PS its all covers and stuff I do for a few bob

got one a few months back. great value. havent stopped playing with it since. very versatile. ive seen friends use the XT live in a big band setup with great effect. ive used X3 on smaller stuff and i think its a mighty thing to have around. a wealth of good presets if you're not into hours spent tinkering trying to find your own settings. alot of the bases are covered well. piezo / mic'd acoustic to shred-metal. with great blues tones etc. great advantage of the x3 is running guitar and mic through it. then you'd only need a single channel on the PA if you're using a small one.
great feature is the "dual tone". especially if your gigging alone. you effectively get two totally independant guitar sounds out of it. ie. clean guitar and crunchy etc simultaneously! really adds depth to the live performance.
mic presets arent great though. but with some time you'd get some fine sounds for gigging. handy too for recording - usb's straight into PC to record with whatever software you can get your hands on.

I know that was a bit of a rant but i do think its a great piece of kit.
if you're tight for budget though id would weigh up the difference in features between the xt and x3. no real difference in sound from them. x3 has some great features added but it is double the price of a second hand xt.

    good luck!

Got sick of lugging my amp to gigs.

Bought an XT Live 2 years ago and have never looked back.

Just so handy and truthfully punters in pubs can not tell shag all difference between good tone and slightly less good tone y'know?

The tone is grand though, obviously not boutique or anything but it totally does the job. Also if your not lazy (like me) and get beyond the presets you can really get some excellent tones. For a working muso with a bad back and no room on stage (which I think is pretty much all of us!!!) it is spot on.

Got one about 2 months ago, love the thing... presets suck but if you sit down with a little patients you'd be surprised how good it it...

I also found when running into a PA instead of an amp it actually sounds better... Kinda annoying after buying a new amp :P

X3 going for 400. id say thats a good price. only knack with line6 second hand is you need to make sure the seller has unregistered his s/w. so you can register and use it. to get the most out of any L6 gear it would want to be registered.

Not a hope. I rang X-music and they quoted me €419 new, and I know I'll get it even cheaper.

I bought an X3 Live a couple months ago and although I am enjoying it, there are a number of frustrating things. #1, that piece of crap users manual! Why even print such a useless tome? It took me a lot of web surfing and board reading till I figured out you needed Gearbox to import tones. Why not just print that in the stupid UM?
I'm a bit befuddled on the Dual Tone issue. Is it so you can have two tones, say a rhythm and a lead setting, that you can switch to with one button? If so, how? When I go through the directions in said piece of crap Users Manual I just get both tones sharing the same characteristics.
I know this must be simple, but a step by step to get there would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance

I'll have to look at the pedal when I get back but you see where the footswitch is for A, right above that is the dual tone trigger, hold that down for a few seconds and it should activate, it can be edited in the normal fashion... I'll post back later when I have it in front of me...

And yes, that manual is useless :pac:

Ahh.........holding down for a few seconds. My lack of patience may have thwarted me.
    I'll try it tonight.
    Thanks

I have to agree with jack about the manual only ever used it to land a cup of tea up on it. It is a great product but i get the feeling it was pushed to a release date. There is little enough support for it at the moment. Most of the tones are for XT appart from presets. Dualtone is very handy tho. It allows you have two totally different tones simultaneously. maybe one clean and one slightly crunchier. tapping the dualtone button toggles between the two and holding it activates them both.

I worked out two nice dualtones for "I am the highway" by audioslave. #1 clean for the verse has delay and a wee bit of chorus, #2 has rotary speaker and a more straight forward clean sound. creates a great swisshy effect all at once. then for the solo #1 is loaded with tight delay and octaver and the other has very loose delay.
the two settings then really thicken up the sound
Then you can do the same for vocal inputs. having two sets of effects at once.

It really is a great tool. I find searching for any tones L6.com is a pain but you can download the entire database of tones in one go from a well-hidden link on the site.

    Folks
I picked one up and its class, best investment ive made in a while!
rehearsed with it for the first time there last week, I found this guy on the Interweb that shows you how to setup some great tones "Stevie Ray, Hendrix (little wing), and also a nice clean, crunch, overdrive and lead sound)
I setup a few of them before rehearsal and my lead sound has never sounded so good, the clean needs a bit of work but everything else was quality.
Tried recording with it straight into protools without any mastering and the sound was beautiful.
Im going to have fun with this!
    Mick :D

This is the guy that shows you how to setup some nice sounding tones,
I used his two vids to setup a clean/cruntch/overdrive and lead sound.
played with them live the other night and it sounded class!
