How to Wash MakeUp Brushes

I need to wash my makeupbrushes at home. I have a few eyeshadow brushes from makeupforever, a concealer brush and lip brush from mac, and various powder/blush brushes. Does anyone know a really cheap product to use and how to use it? I know mac sell their own product for cleaning but I cant afford that at the moment.

Also any tips on the technique for washing them?

I have MAC ones and wash them with Johnson's Baby shampoo! The girl who sold them to me told me to use it and it works great!

I also use MAC brushes, and I just wash them with a bit of shampoo (whatever's nearby, no brand in particular) under the hot tap. The girl at the MAC shop in Canada where I got mine told me to do that. I really think any specialised products are a bit of a gimmick.

Make sure not to use hot water! The glue will melt and the bristles will fall out.

After every use you should use a brush cleaner but once a week for a deep cleanse use baby shampoo. It's gentle on the brush hairs and will keep them lasting for years!

Really? Flip! I always make sure the water is hot as possible as it cleans them quicker...

I've been using Carex antibacterial handwash for a while, simply just because it was there on my sink and it's worked very well for me so far!

I ended up washing them with a foaming facial cleanser I had, made sure they were rinsed clean and then left them to dry, doing the make up in the morning will be difficult though since they're not dry yet!

    Thanks for your help

I wash my foundation brush every day and it's always dry the next morning. If they're not dry tomorrow, they should definitely be dry the next morning.

Yep. I never really thought about the temperature of the water until one of my brushes fell apart.

A couple of drops of baby oil - or an oil based cleaser and some warm water, followed by some mild shampoo will make a foundation brush brand new!

Does the above work ok with Kabuki brushed to?
