Hi guys, First time poster. Looking for some advice/recommendations on a summer hol. Thinking of 3 weeks in...a) China b) South Africa c) somewhere else in Asia (Thailand, Vietnam etc..). Anyone got any recommendations, looking at a leaving date in early July. Interested in places with plenty to see...historical, nature etc. Not really into sunbathing etc.. Cheers ldwdub

Have only been to SA so I can only comment on that.

I absolutely loved SA, so much to see and do and overall just a beautiful country. It will be winter over there in July, which won't be an issue for you if you're not bothered about sunbathing and beach life.

During our 10 days there, we spend 4 nights in Capetown and did the usual touristy things there and also drove down around the Cape of Good Hope. 2 days then in the Stellebosch in the Wine Region, visiting wineries and generally just chilling. 2 nights on the Garden Route, again just relaxing really and enjoying the scenery and then 2 days on Safari in a game reserve.

I've heard that SA tourism is being badly affected by the global recession (hotel bookings down 25%) and with July being their Winter I'd say you could get some real bargains.
