    Hello,

Can I hope on a bus, e.g Mayo, and travel via a ferry to a destination somewhere in Europe, e.g Amsterdam?

Is this possible? I've a little time on my hands and I don't fancy air travel this time and i'm guessing it'll be cheaper.

    Any advice would be great
    Thanks

see here for more, http://www.buseireann.ie/bubble.php?id=188 and http://www.eurolines.com/
but in summary, Yes you can just hop on a bus in Mayo, get on the London bus in Athlone/Kinnegad or BusArus and travel via London to most of Europe.
Not to say it's cheaper than a cheap ryanair flight, etc, but def a more interting way to see the world.

    Cheers mate

I'll check out that link now. I visited the Eurolines section on buseireann.ie before but it only went as far as London.

    Thanks

check the PDF on the buseireann page, it lists sample routes to Paris and Amsterdam, with a 12hr stop over in London

gatwich express goes to London Victoria train station, which is part of the same "complex" as the bus station of the same name.

yes you can, buses for amsterdam, paris leave from london victoria coach station at about 8.00pm each evening (which is up the road from victoria rail station btw not part of it) http://www.eurolines.co.uk/utilities/About.cfm

eurolines from ireland arrive in london at approx 9am each morning. i did the amsterdam and paris routes years ago

I did Dublin to Paris years ago in the days before Ryanair bringing competition to continental routes. NEVER AGAIN. It's a horrible trip. Especially in the height of summer and the guy in the seat in front has never heard of taking a shower.

You lose days out of your holiday just sitting on busses/ferries too.
