Nice one Seany. Proof that you go to a meetup at your own peril!

I also noticed that the lovely brown Bacchus SG on Hisashi's site has been purchased. Anyone????

    Actually got it here

Customs is around 24% of guitar and delivery cost..yeah?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,817 ✭✭✭✭Dord

It's 21.5% VAT + 3.6% Customs fee? I think... so just over 25%. There's a spreadsheet in the sticky thread, but it needs to be updated to reflect the new VAT rate.

Whatever the **** it is, it will be worth it for that guitar :)

    Exactly! :D

When I decided on my Duke, it came down to the one I went with vs that very guitar there. I'm unhealthily fond of the one I have but I've always retained a soft spot for that Goldtop. Some days I wonder what life would be like if I went with it instead of my own...

...now I get to find out :D

That Goldtop was on my list too! I'm glad one of us has bought it. Now we need to contact Bacchus directly and organise some sort of forumite discount!

Where is good to buy Bacchus stuff???

Thinking about a shredder guitar, maybe an Ibanez but have to say some of the Bacshus stuff I have seen on these threads plus the reports are pretty head turning.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

The closest thing they do to a shredder type guitar is the Empire model. It's worth noting though, that it really is a souped up strat rather than a RG type. It's a full sized neck and a proper strat shaped body and the best Tele twang coil tap you're ever going to hear on a humbuckered guitar. There are three available on ebay which are the only ones I know of, they only do small runs of any model and the last time they made this model was in 2004.

Nice peice of kit there Seany!,

I decided to post a link that I was holding onto for the last while.
I personally have had to look at this a couple of times since this so called "recession" has hit, maybe someone will find it useful I personally found it not useful.

Here it is enjoy or not http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Articles/Avoiding_GAS/

This arrived yesterday morning and had the pleasure of jamming with the lads with it last night.

Although on the heavy side (arent we all :p) it is very comfortable to play. Second song in, i felt like I have owned one for years.

Still finding my way around it tones however I have to say first impressions are that it sounds absolutley wonderful.

    Seriously recommended.

    :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Yeah, now you get it :D

    Congratulations man, enjoy it :)

How does it compare to the Electra in terms of tone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,635 CMod ✭✭✭✭Ravelleman

Awesome Seany. Like I said, I can't wait to try it!

How does the neck compare to Doc's Duke?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 462 ✭✭Seany

Pretty similar to docs from what I remember, neck is a little wide which suits me and action is low.

Very comfortable to play (depsite weight!).

Regards tone - different from the electra. I found it very sensitive.. moving quarter dial and switching between pick ups can change the tone significantly so will need a lot more time with this :D
