Towbar for Passat - have bracket - just bar needed?

I have a 03 VW Passat 4-door saloon. It seems to have a bracket on the underside ready for a tow bar to slot into (with a metal pin then put in through the holes in the bracket perpendicular to the bar to hold it in place). Can I just buy a tow bar (i.e. not a full kit needed) and pin it into place or is a specialist installation (and kit) required?

I don't really need a tow bar in general - would mainly just use it for a towball bike rack if I could bick up the towbar for cheap enough. So thanks for any pointers on what my options are.

sounds like you have a detachable towhook with the detachable bit missing ?

Could be that exactly, didn't know they were detachable. Will double-check the boot to make sure it's not sitting around in it, but if not is it possible just to buy the detachment?
