Scaffolding

I have started a build (2,600 sq ft) in the mid-west area and will be starting the roof in the coming weeks. I will need to provide scaffolding for the carpenter - I will also need it for the plasterer.

I am going to need it for at least 5 or 6 months - has anyone here actually bought their scaffolding as opposed to hiring it out ? Would people have saved money that way ?

Does anyone know the prices involved - i.e. how much it would cost to hire out scaffolding ? Or how much it would cost to buy it, either 2nd hand or new ?

    Hi folks ,

I was wondering if someone caould help me name and source this railing / scaffolding component , I require them to make some railings as standard scaffolding clamps will not suffice.

I have tried a number of local scaffold companies and none could help me .
I would be grateful if someone could point me in the direction of a supplier / sales agent preferrebly in the South East.

    Cheers

Bought my scaffolding for €3000 cash. Enough to do a 2000s quare foot two storey. Shopped around a lot - a lot of people were trying to offload new or nearly new scaffolding for €5k to €6k for the amount that I needed. I bought second hand stuff for the €3k, its not new, but it was perfect for what i needed it for. I'll sell it again for €2k in about 6 months when I'm finished (hopefully).

Priced renting it - cheapest quote I got was €2000 to erect, inspect and dismantle it and €100 per week in hire. I know I'd need mine for at least 8 months. that would be €5200 in total in rent. All dead money. Figure that if I can't sell the scaffolding that I bought, I'll not have lost. (I'll use them to make cattle pens or something :) )

For me, buying was best option.

Its all very fine to buy new or second-hand scaffolding and self-erect:) but I would caution against it as if there is an accident who is liable for what would give me sleepless nights.

Whatever about new I would not touch secondhand stuff because particularly the lego type stuff, when u see how much heavy belting the joints get during assembly and dismantling it makes me wonder about the ability of the welds to 'hack it'
    Just a thought or 2

In todays climate buying scaffold and then trying to sell it on is a big no no. The country is awash with planks and bars hire it is best option as the contractor will have the ticket to erect it and the insurance.
