They were making more money from stocks and shares etc than selling cars over the last number of years. Maybe they've reached a point where those earnings are maxed out now and need to increase their car base to remain as profitable as they have been for the last while.
If that's true then the Porsche brand will be diluted a little. Shame really.

yes he designed the Beetle, that's why the first 911s probably were so similar to it.

I hope they are bringing back a modern day 914.
