CB or Citizens Band Radio (You know the thing that was in smokey and the bandit and other films).
Well - Its on the way back, in fact it never left but had went a bit quite for a good few years. A lot of other counties have now got active talk on cb's.
And Tralee, Kenmare and Killarney are really picking up mainly due to a new supplier in Tralee. Anyone looking to get back into it or start fresh can log on to.

Some people are taking "going back to the 80s" a step too far (or was it the 70s?). :P

:D Well, maybe thats part of it but the big reason it's coming back is because of the new systems and compact/modern CB's that are out there now.
Things have changed a lot and comreg have made things clearer now so theres no problem as regard legal issues.
Anyone here used ne on them before and interested in getting back?

could that be used on a boat or in mountainous regions?

Well for a boat it can be used but you should also have a marine radio just in case you need coastguard assistance.
For mountain areas CB radio is actually a great option as it is self powered, By that i mean it does not rely on having a signal coming in. Unlike a mobile phone which is often useless in near mountains.
You can get handheld CB also but there not as good, Getting better though.
Such as the intek h520 - see link
