    Hey All,

Just wondering if anyone could help me find a Nursing/Retirement home where I could volunteer in Cork?

Anything from redaing to them to changing them...?

    Any links would be great!

    Thanks!

    Hi M2T.
To be honest I don't know of many nursing homes who take on volunteers as they need to be particularly careful esp with regard to the scandal in recent years.

If you want to give it a shot, your best bet is to look on goldenpages.ie for a list of nursing homes in Cork. Ring them and ask if they take volunteers or perhaps check if they need care assistants. It might be even better if you call in person to any nursing homes.

I know of a company called Bru Columbanus (I think they are based in Wilton) who provide accomodation for families of people in the hospitals/hospices around Cork. They usually require volunteers at the weekend - generally I think the work involves housekeeping.

Perhaps try Age Action or St. Vincent de Paul as they do a lot of work with the elderly and regularly seek volunteers.

Or try volunteer.ie - I think they have a list of current volunteering vacancies by category so you might find something around health and disability there. Just pick the Cork centre and your category
