i really dont think thats a good idea on a 99 golf. To get a really good job a couple of grand would be eaten up easily and its not worth that. Just drop your price to sell very cheap or live with it i'm afraid

You could be talking a couple of grand anyways depending on the quality of the job. A different colour in the engine bay will also look odd and may frighten off a potential buyer.

A waste of money imo, you would be better off just trading up for one in a different colour.

there is an irish car swap site. Something along the lines of carswap.ie i think. Was mentioned here recently. Could be worth a shot. Maybe put it on adverts.ie and see what happens

Some people do swaps on adverts.ie, but to be honest I doubt it'll happen. What's the mileage and what were you looking to get for it?

1.9 Tdi 150,000 miles. Jusst passed 2 yrs nct and timing belt done and new tyres brake pads. Its great car just dont like colour. Not sure what worth. Would swap for similar black golf or sell for 3700.

Will check out that order site.

    Thanks for all advice

    What colour is it?

It can't really be that bad.

If you're willing to take a financial hit spraying the car, why not take a hit on selling the car. Drop from 3,700 to 3,300 (and accept 3,000) and you might have more luck. You might have to add a few quid onto that to get your black golf, but not as much as the cost of a respray (and the effect a respray has on resale value). The new golf would probably even have less miles.

    ^ That sounds sensible.

Just trade it in against a black one, spend your respray money on upgrading.

No offence OP but looking for 3,700 for a 10 year old Golf TDI with 150,000 miles is just silly. That is probably why you cannot sell it.

The brother bought a '99 1.9TDI Bora, 160,000 mls for €2500, and that was over the odds. €2,200 max if it's perfect. €3,000 is bonkers.
