hey folks i just bought about 130 kgs weights, 2 bar bells and 2 dumbell poles. all for 40 pound. thought this was great value. only thing is they are quite rusted. i was wonderin if there is anyway of cleaning them up e.g. scrubbin the rust off em and repainting them (if re painting is an option what kind of paint would i use)

sorry if this is in the wrong forum mods please feel free to move me to the right place!!!:)

if they are in bad nick it is probably a good idea to weigh all the weights to see how heavy each one actually is, as there can be variations in new plates so depending on what damage these have these variations may have gotten worse and if you load the bar now you may end up with one side noticeably heavier then the other

never thought on that mate! so far i havent felt any real differences (ecept the ones where i have deliberatly imbalanced) will get to it asap! i doubt there will be too much difference tho as they are rusted badly but not too badly if you understand what i mean!
    cheers joe
