Im starting to plan a trip for October bank holiday but want to get in as soon as possible after release to get as cheap flights as possible,

I was just wondering when do the likes of Ryan-Air / Aer Lingus usually release their timetable?

    Any ideas?

according to the Aer Lingus site.....Flights may be booked a maximum of 330 days from today (latest date Mon 25 Jan 2010)

Also take into account that airline timetables are subject to change eve after your flight is booked. I reently recieved an email from aerlingus saying my return flight was moved back by about 30 minutes making it very tight to make it from my connecting flight. The rule is that if your flight is moved by 2 hours or more then they will allow you to rebook to another free of charge but under 2 hours are subject to usual charges.

    Try telling Ryanair that. ;)

Thanks, I was hoping to get some idea of when Ryanair does theirs so I can compare airline against airline

Knowing my luck they will probably do it 3 days before hand to minimise costs!

If you are going to London or the USA you can book flights up to 330 days in advance, but not on all routes. And also, Aer Lingus and Ryanair don't always necessarily sell off cheap flights early. Sometimes the best deals can be had only a month before travel, if the seats aren't being taken as they should.
