I've tried a whole load of different eyeliners, and with the exception of one, all of them end up giving me panda eyes after about twenty minutes. The only one that doesnt is Bourgois Metallise but it wears away fairly quickly. Does anyone have any reccomendations?

Put a layer of loose/pressed powder on under your eyes to stop smudging and panda eyes, I had this problem for ages until I learned this trick, then hey presto! All better :) As for eyeliners, GOSH do an amazing range of different colours! Finish is pretty good too.

Benefit's (thiner) eyeliner is great and I never find that it smudges.

I find MAC eye kohl pencils don't slip.

You should also check out MAC fluidline gel eyeliner - it won't budge until you take it off. But be sure to invest in a decent brush for it or you'll never get it right.

I think that Lancome kohl eyeliners are brilliant.

I find the Chanel Stylo Yeux to be really good. Gives a sharp, defined line and doesn't smudge easily.
Have you tried putting your eyeliner in the fridge for about 20 mins before use?

I'm assuming you're talking about just eyeliner pencils.
I used to have the same problem, they'd smudge or wear away quite fast (though I usually found Rimmels to be handy enough)
though the best advice would be to go for liquid. I love Bourjois's (not the niteclub one, one rub of your eye and its gone) but the half silver half black one. Lasts all night and liquid won't smudge on you.
Oh and if you think your hand is too shakey everyone's is when they first use liquid eyeliner but a bit of practice and you'll get the hang of it.

I was just about to recommend both of these eyeliners! The Gel eyeliner is fantastic. I confess I am guilty of going to bed without removing my eye make up, and in the morning, the Mac gel eyeliner hasnt smudged anywhere other than my pillow!

Dior and Mac are my favourites ... Dior is best if you like it quite dramatic!

I'm grand with using liquid eyeliner, I actually wear it more often than pencils, but I'm just looking for a good pencil!

I bought Rimmel exagerate waterproof eyeliner in black yesterday for 3.50 euro (which is on promotional offer in boots). They are absolutely fantastic. They are great especially for the lower waterline. They are soo smooth and it glides in the waterline. This is the best eyeliner i have ever bought :).

They have blue, brown & pink colour as well...

My friend loves MAC she says it stays on the eye. I use Loréal but I think it's rubbish - I end up with Panda eyes come 2.30pm on a night out! I heard Urban Decay is fab also! They sell it in House of Fraser.

    are we talking eyeliner pencils?

i had the same problem with panda eyes. i found rimmel pencils to be the worst.

surprisingly enough, ive found the cheaper pencils have worked the best for me.

essence was absoloutely amazing, and didnt seem to smudge at all, it's also handy because you can get it in twist form....which means no need for sharpening.

skint at the moment, and bought a natural collections pencil two days ago as it was cheapest. I really like it, and am genuinely surprised at the quality.

Can't recommend Mac eyeliner enough, but only the Engraved one, the Smoulder one is useless IMO, smudges with every blink and not in a smouldering sexy way...
