hello mayo! some of our lot are mayo based (blacksod) and will come to sligo a fair bit. apart from that, you are probably nearer to g-tac. but ya, there are plenty of opertunities to kick start your local scene into life. as soon as you start making a bit of nois about it you will probably find there are a lot more players than you thought. good luck with it.

We have a team already set up. The 13th Irish merc's. Around 10 player's all with uniform's and AEG's and GBB's. We did skirmish at G-TAC. I personally for nearly a year solid. So gear ain't a problem.:D Fitness is a problem!!!!;) Sent you an e-mail asking about where you do this, size and type of area! And if you have insurance. Maybe You could post something up. If not feel free to PM. Your profile on bebo is set to private so i couldn't get a look. I added you as a friend so just except and i'll get a look. Just wondering what your prices if you have your own gear too???
    Thank's for the info.

ok so you have the team, you have the equipment and more importantly you have the experience, but g tac is a little to far away. my site is more for teamwork than skirmish.
its a field aproximately 80m by 40m reasonably flat with adjustable obstacles. It can only adequately cater for 6 people. And as the numbers are small the insurance is definately not feasable-hence anyone using my site really needs to be geared up head to toe in my gear using my AEG's.. being a Corporal in the reserves, I like to keep things SMART UNIFORM AND SOLDIER LIKE So I would appreciate if you save your gear for the real skirmishes

Due to recent correspondents and the recent publishing of the new Firearms bill, For the benefit of promoting Airsoft as a sport/obsession I wish to retract my last post....If you have the gear and its legal there should be no reason not to use it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 243 ✭✭doubletap

Theres a few of us around Ballina, we have the equipment but so far haven't had time to go to a skirmish. something organised locally would be great.

Lads just to let you all know that there will be a new site opening in Sligo soon you may have already seen the tread but if not by all means drop into it and have a read.

hopefully we may see some of you lads in the future. Plus we will also be running a shop to facilitate our members which may come in handy for some of you due to location.

    thanks for your time

    Hi!
Given the fact that I'm 32 and the two girls with me on youtube(type boot camp ballyhaunis) were 12 I guess the average age is....20!!

Right now I'm advertising as a boot camp starting up in june but if you want to come down any saturday your welcome(give me a buzz b4 you come down) Also if you have any mates interested I have enough guns and gear for 6 -only 5 euro per person and its for 2 hours!!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 14 DarkStallion

regarding the g36's,I do have the safety masks and gear but the insurance is far too high to have any skirmishes Instead,I am promoting a firing range type scenario and anyways nobody likes getting tagged!

    How much insurance,

Is the insurance for the land owner or is it for the people shooting?

Insurance is the ruination of this country. I wish it was not possible to sue so much.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 14 DarkStallion

Public liability insurance covers all accidents on you property-compared to a quote to insure persons shooting each other on your own land its about E9500.

I know its expensive but it would cost much, much more if you didnt pay it-E180,000 if you lose an eye!

But to counteract such claims you need to manage your site properly-
1)properly survey the site for all potential dangers-health & safety
2)Properly vet the people you are playing with-deviants are not tolerated
3)Ensure the general public are not put in danger-or made to feel like their in danger.

If you follow those three golden rules, there wont be any claims.

I've been doing some research lately and came acrosse this
    http://www.practicalairsoft.co.uk/uk-law.asp

"26. The Home Office and the Forensic Science Service considers that the lowest level of muzzle energy capable of inflicting a penetrating wound is one foot pound (or about 1.35 joules): below these power levels, weapons are "incapable of penetrating even vulnerable parts of the body, such as the eye"."

And as airsoft are all under 1 joule it should be ok.

But yeah I agree with those rules after that there is not much more that can be accounted for causing problems.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 14 DarkStallion

still wouldnt fancy a shot in the eye!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166 ✭✭SwarfegaHead

I havent read through this thread, and may be a bit drunk, but with regards to the above post/s I'd like to say there's a big difference between the ability to "penetrate" vulnerable parts of the body like the eye and the ability to seriously damage them. Damage can occur without penetration.

This may not be that relevant, just thought I'd say!

No, that a fair point and I was thinking it my self but I think that a person might not be blinded by A one shot to the eye.

That said I would nether like to be the one its tried out on.

With a name like swarfega head, I'm pretty sure you're always thinking about penetration....:D

    There's a perfectly legitimate, non-dirty explanation behind the name, I swear...! :p
