If you had to go on a date with SunGod, where would be the perfect place for romance to blossom?

    Help
You got me into it,dragged me around for a few months while i slowed you down, now your trying to slow me down ....im enjoying it while i can :D

your short term goals (this year)?
    Sub 38 for 10k,if not tomorrow,Butlerstown 10k in April/May.
    Sub 30 mins for 5m,Sub 23:40 for 4m.

what do you think you can acheive long term...in all distances 5m to marathon?
No idea, amazed with progress so far,it has really surprised me.
I think i could do sub 3 eventually for a marathon if i done a few of them, but have a feeling i wont.
I am more into the shorter distances, confident i can get better at those.
    10m is really tough,64:40 at the moment,maybe sub 62 in a year or 2.

do you realise im 100% serious of my praise for you and what i think you can acheive?
No,you are building me up to knock me down !

how has boards helped/effected your training?
really helped,i dont lack motivation, but great to read how everyone else is getting on in races and training !

    favourite race you've completed?
Has to be last Sunday at the kilmac 5...to be 10 seconds away from sub 30 shocked me.
I was aiming for 30:50 at best....now i know i can get under the magical 30 mins.

We probably started running at around the same time, yet your pbs are unreal, what do you put this down to, is it a natural talent thats finally being nurtured or do you do alot of speedwork ?

I'll admit that although you shouldn't compare yourself to another runner, I can't help but do it with you and wonder why I can't be as quick.

Do you and the wife fight about Sungod and the fact that you spend more time with him ?

What age bracket are you in ?

Did you do any other sports before running ?

I dont do any speedwork at all wodlde tbh,I probably should,Myself and SUNGOD are members of the local athletics club but we dont participate in any club training,we only joined so that when we register for races our names are associated with a club instead of being blank when the results come out.
We agreed that this summer we will go to a few sessions and see how we get on down there.

When i signed up on boards, the first thing i looked for is anyone on it that was similar to me.
Yourself and Showry fitted the bill,i enjoy reading your logs

We dont fight, but she calls him my boyfriend,he comes in then and sweet talks her but she is well able for him !

What age bracket are you in ?
    34 next Saturday ( jesus...getting old ! )

Did you do any other sports before running ?
I played Basketball for 17 years,10 of those at national league level.

You say you don't do speedwork, so what aspect of your training most contributed to your weekend 10k pb?

How fast will you go when you put some speed sessions in your training?

Have you ever scored a slam dunk in a match? If so, give us a description of the play that led up to your favourite dunk.

Have you sacrificed anything for your running?
    e.g. Basketball, hangovers, lie-ins.

    Did you run in school?
If not, was it because you didn't have the opportunity, or preferred basketball?

Which is harder on the body, playing a full match in an important basketball game, or running a PB in the 10K?

I dont know .... but what i have done over the last 3 weeks to prepare for the last 3 races i have done is not run on consecutive days.
Before the Kilmac race i ran slower during the week and was flying, last week i did my 3 sessions much quicker than the previous week and i was tired for the race.

How fast will you go when you put some speed sessions in your training?
Never really thought of that, but hopefully find out over the summer.

    No,unfortunately,I'm only around 5"9
In my younger days i was close but used up way to much energy trying and the coach was not happy.
Now i'd say id pull a muscle even attempting to touch the ring !

No,I retired from basketball 6 months before i took up running,i got fed up of all the travel and commitment that went with it.
Great to be able to go for a run whenever it suits me,not being restricted to training at the same times every week.
I am not one for lying in the bed anyway, much prefer to go to bed early and get up early.
We dont go out to much, and when we do,i would run that morning so that i would not have to the morning after.

    Did you run in school?
    No

Basketball was the only sport for me up until i retired,as soon as i took it up i never even contemplated any others.

A tough one ...i would have to say the 10k yesterday because you have to keep going...grind it out.
In a match there are always oppurtunitys to get a breather, aswell as that you would very rarely play a full match in basketball as you can sub in and out as many times as you want...no restrictions.
as well as that i am getting older, would have been easier in my 20's.

Do either of you or Sungod know the Goose?

What'll happen first, the Goose running 26.2m (that's meters!) or both of you going sub 3 in the marathon?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,411 ✭✭✭SUNGOD

    detective clum
we both know the goose very well......i cant see the goose even doing 26.2 meters ......not unless there was a chinese at the end of it..:D

You don't, but the Goose does. He was visiting me recently with some other friends and when I explained why I wasn't drinking (prep for Connemara) he told me about friends from home who are running marathons and ultra marathons and I figured it was you guys (not too many ultra runners around).

He doesn't like the sound of the training but when I told him how much I ate for carb loading he got excited!!

I thought it was only us who called him the Goose

I know that face of excitement where food is concerned....he would eat you if you poured a bit of black bean sauce over yourself :D

Well done Sosa, your progress in a year is honestly unbelievable, fair play to you.

    I've a few for you,

Who'd win in a fight, you or the Goose?
Will you ever beat Sungod in an actual race? (He reckons training runs dont count)
Did Sungods punch hurt down in Breens 15 years ago?
Do you ever regret ruining my basketball career when you ruled out my buzzer beating league winning shot.
    Why are you so competitive?
Why am I a lazy bastard?

PS will someone put up a link to Sungods Well, I cant find it.
