    Hello all,

I hope you can help me. I was sticking on new chainrings onto my bike when i realised that one of the arms that attaches the chainring on to the crank has a bit snapped off. Its the 'eye' part thats come off. Is this the part i need (4 bolt version)?, Or do i need to replace the whole chainset? Its an XT part buy the way.

    Thanks in advance

    Andrew

That part you've linked to will only fit a DMR crank arm. DMR, Middleburn and a few BMX/DH part manufacturers produce cranks with replaceable 'spiders' (which is the part you've snapped). Shimano XT cranks don't have replaceable spiders. So unfortunately you'll have to replace the whole crank or try and find the half that you have broken on ebay.

edit: look for a warranty replacement first of course! Not a usual wear and tear part of your bike that would break.

When a XT BB is 50 euro and a set of rings is 75, it makes buying the whole crankset and having those spares a lot less painful!
