My driving test has been given the sgs so i am now doing my test in dun laoghaire. So i have now learn the routes over there. Does anyone is it any harder? Also does anyone now if theres a driving scool out there because at the moment i have to pay for a two hour session out there with a company in churchtown cause it takes so long to get out there. it costs 80Euro!!!!!!!!!!!

Surley if you can pass the test in one location, you can pass it in another? Its a driving competancy test, not a memory test...

Its a fact that if you memorise the test routes your chances are better. There is a corner on the Bray route that if you didn't do before you would mess up no problem. If I could see the Leaving Cert before I sat it I would do better, its the same with a driving test. Anyone know of KML (Google Map) plots of the test routes?

So does that mean that you can't drive on that road correctly without practising it first? The driving test is there to evaluate whether you are competent to drive on the roads - even difficult ones...

Not at all. And your perfectly right, its a driving test not a memory test. Its just some roads need prior knowledge. Another instance is a Stop sign on the Bray route, its horrendously obscured due to folliage and in another spot because of parked vans / cars. And they are the things that will fail you.

Sounds unusual to me that they would host the test in an area that obviously does not conform to road traffic design guidelines - this would automatically mean that the vast majority of people would be unable to pass the test in this location without prior knowledge of the route...

It just doesn't make sense to me - there must be an awful lot of accidents in that particular location if only the locals know how to use the junction...

Do you have your own car? If so have a look here at the test route. If you main issue is getting to know the area then follow the practice route and it should do the trick
    · Proceed from the test Centre and take a left on Pottery Road towards Bakers Corner.

    · At the 1st set of lights go straight ahead and at the 2nd set (Bakers Corner) take a right onto Kill Avenue.

    · Follow the road down to the next roundabout and taking the 1st exit left onto Oliver Plunkett Rd continuing to the end of the road then taking a left on Monkstown Avenue.

    · At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Stradbrook Rd and follow the road down, merging with Rowan Park to the traffic lights.

    · At the lights take a left onto Newtownpark Avenue, turning right onto Meadow Close.

    · In Meadow Close practice the REVERSE AROUND THE CORNER and TURNABOUT.

    · Continue back towards Newtownpark Avenue via Ardagh Drive then left into Granville Road for a REVERSE AROUND THE CORNER and TURNABOUT before rejoining Newtownpark Avenue via Granville Park, taking a left.

    · Continue towards the lights then take a left onto the N11 (Stillorgan Dual Carriageway).

    · Continue to Loughlinstown exit (Wyattville Road) then take a left onto Churchview Road.

    · Coninue along the road past Tescos then take a right to Watsons Avenue, left to Churchview Avenue and right to Churchview Drive for a TURNABOUT.

    · In this estate you can also practice a REVERSE AROUND THE CORNER.

    · Continue back to Churchview Road taking a left then a right onto Granville Road.

    · Follow the road along then take a right into Woodlands Avenue, pulling in for a HILLSTART and REVERSE AROUND THE CORNER.

    · Continue along Woodlands Avenue then take a left on Woodlands Park then a right onto Auburn Avenue for another HILLSTART. In this estate it is also possible to practice a TURNABOUT.

    · Take a left onto Auburn Rd followed by right to Woodlands Rd then right to Granitefield.

    · On Rochestown Avenue take a left and continue towards the roundabout at the Graduate Pub taking the 2nd exit to Avondale Rd.

    · Take the 2nd left onto Arnold Grove and a right onto Sion Rd. In this estate you can practice a TURNABOUT, REVERSE AROUND THE CORNER and HILLSTART.

    · Continue back onto Avondale Rd via Bell Vue Avenue then take a right then next left to Cluny Grove.

    · On the 1st road on the left you can practice the REVERSE AROUND THE CORNER and TURNABOUT.

    · Follow the road along up to Ballinclea Rd taking a right and joining Avondale Rd before taking the 3rd exit off the Graduate Roundabout down the Sallyglen Road.

    · Take the 1st exit left from the Roundabout towards Sallynoggin then a left onto Rochestown Avenue.

    · At the next lights take a right onto Johnstown Rd then a right at the next lights to Pottery Rd.

    · Follow the road along then take a left back into test centre.

(DL is about half way down the page)

Hang on, I miss read that. Is Deansgrange still open? They are the nicest testers in the country. Two of my friends have past there with no problems. And I think there is 4 routes.
