ah ffs! if everyone got sacked for making one small negative comment about their jobs everyone would be unemployed. I think they were looking for a reason to lay off staff and found one...

Depends on what she posted tbh.

If it was something company confidential, I'd sack her.

    I'd give her my sack

She said her job was boring. Hardly a sackable offense.

In all fairness she was probably a demonic employee they couldnt wait to get out of there for the benfit of all involved. People who post stuff on facebook and then accuse those who see it as "nosey" dont deserve a job that involves more than 2 moving parts. It also said "she had begun working" so it was most likely her first few days on the job. If I started a job and told the interweb how boring it was I would fully expect to see my "probation period" terminated on my first day.

Seems she was sacked for showing other employees rather than making the comment itself.

Kimberley , as it happens I have a job opening up in 2 years time. Gimme ring then.

According to the BBC report, she invited her new colleagues to view her facebook page... and one of them sent it to the boss!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,564 ✭✭✭Naikon

Good enough of her. She should think twice before posting such stuff on the
interwebs. I would fire anyone >=24 who still uses a bebo or myspace page on the spot:pac:

Meh, never use own name and never refer to work.

    Easy done.

That's a nice bit of marketing of herself you have to admit. Only on the job a few days and it's all over the web.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,946 ✭✭✭red_ice

I think she deserves it tbh. The boss made some valid points in that statement. Imagine going into your office and putting it up on the notice board there "works boring". Moral is a very hard thing to build (without using money) and she knocked it down.. in his eyes anyways. He did her a fav.

She did have to be disciplined and firing her seems correct to me. If companies turn a blind eye to this kind of thing it just opens the flood gates.

Complaining about losing her job because she complained about her job? That Kimberley certainly takes the biscuit. :P

I don't really think facebook can be compared to the noticeboard at work, maybe the noiceboard at your gym or a shop. It's a social forum, nothing to do with work. If she posted it on one of their internal sites it would be a different story.

    A bit harsh imo.

Think about it how many of you here have said "bored in work" while on boards etc, i suppose the company cant really trace it back because of a user name but the IT guy in the company could.

Probably some ugly, sweaty old bat with a face like a horse's arse trying to get rid of the "competition".

It says in the post that her social circle involved people that she works with. So it directly effects the people in work!

    Good example imo

Ridiculous if in fact all she posted was that it was boring job. Who cares as long as she gets her work done? Her employer wasn't even named. There must be more to it than the Facebook comment. They must be loving the bad PR.

Heard of kids getting suspended from school because of comments made on bebo.. Teachers are apparently now reading bebo because of bullying etc. What kind of eejit though would openly complain about their boss on facebook, asking for trouble. bet one of the other stafft reported it to HR:D

All of the idiots who get the sack over their employer revelations should start another Bebo type site called toothickforwork.com.

I think the real issue here is that a male boss fired a hot young woman.

What kind of a man fires a hot female employee?

Answer: He's not really a man at all. I think we're dealing with crab-people here. They've done stuff like this before you know.

You already got your coat way back in comment #40. Go back to the house immediately. Chances are you've just stolen somebody else's coat.
