Just wondering if anyone could tell me about the nutritional value of carrots when they are juiced compared to eating them raw, I am trying to eat foods high in vitamin A, will juicing carrots cause any massive loss in vitamin A?

Any downsides to juicing against eating them raw?

Yes, you lose all the fibre. Juicing will give you almost all the calories of a whole carrot, but without the fibre and without the ability to fill you up. All the sugar in carrots (and there is a lot) will be absorbed much quicker and may cause an insulin surge.

And of course, you have to wash the juicer afterwards.

I honestly can't think of any good reason for juicing a carrot instead of just eating it.

Thanks for the answer ,Im not worried about the calorie content I'm just wondering about the loss of vitamin A (if there is any loss?) during the juicing process. My reasoning for juicing would be the time it takes to eat 5 raw carrots compared to juicing.

Altough the washing up is a good point!

I've been doing some research on this and some sources suggest all the vitamins will also be absorbed much quicker?!

And do they say if quick absorption is a good thing?

The sugar insulin surges can lead to you gaining fat. Carrot juice has around the same sugar content as Lilt (albeit natural sugars and with vitamins in the juice)

Quick absorption might be better than no absorption at all? This seems to be the blind leading the blind :). I'm making some assumptions, but have failed to find anything conclusive on the internet. Strange.

As far as possible, eat food without messing with it. Whole carrots will provide what your body needs in the best way, just as whole apples are better than apple juice, and apple juice is better than Fruit Winders.
