    hi there!

My daughter is getting her communion in may..and need an outfit for myself..

What do people wear to communions these days!!?

I was going to get a dress, but everything i look at (online mostly at this stage) seems to be very short..
and anything longer looks too..old fashioned, like for someone older..(i'm 28)

I was thinking maybe a nice pants and top, but am at a loss here too..

    Any ideas appreciated...

    Cheers!

EDIT/ Outfit for myself, not my daughter.

If you felt the dresses were too short to wear on their own why not try them over a pair of trousers? You can also go for trousers and a great top too. To be honest I say wear what you want if you feel and look good in it. I realise there is a certain level of appropriateness that has to be achieved for the church end of things but so long as you don't leave it all hanging out then it should be fine.

    Oasis?

They do day dresses and you can filter to only see them when you look at their website.

    Scratch that, you can't anymore!

The dresses are still there though.

I thought most people still do the traditional white/cream dresses for the communions?

Oasis is a good option so is Massimo Dutti, there (AFAIK) only Irish shop is in Dundrum but here is the site the web threw up: http://www.massimodutti.com/ I think it is part of the Zara group of shops but is more high end. I really like their clothes though.

There's a shop on Meath St in Dublin 8 (Thomas St) end which would sell your typical communion dresses.

*Edit just seen your in Cork.

Its not an actual Communion dress she wants, its a dress to wear to her child's Communion.

I think a lovely shift dress or a tunic dress would be lovely... with bare legs and heels if you're short or a pair of flats if you're tall.
