My favourite game, FIFA 09 has been damaged. It has a scratch on the surface, and wont work when inserted in PS3. I suspect my long suffering wife but can't prove it...

Is there anything that can be done to fix it? if not, if I buy a new copy of the game will i lose all my saved data, records etc???

    Thxs.

this has worked for me. a little toothpaste on some tissue and just buff the scratch. take your time and wipe clean with wet tissue after and then dry. keep going until the scratch is improved significantly, but dont go overboard!

If you do have to replace it, all your saved data will be fine.

Guy i work with came up with an ingenius but utterly dishonest solution to this scenario, he had a copy of star wars the force unleashed which he loves playing. He noticed a scratch/crack on the disc & it wouldn't play so needless to say he was quite miffed. He goes to his local Xtravision, rents the game, plays it & when returning the disc puts the damaged disc into the case & drops it back into the shop when its busy. His logic was they have multiple copies of the disc to rent & if they ever notice then how would they prove anything? Dishonest but original but its not something i'd do, when i said to him that maybe he should take better care of his discs he looked at me like i'd grown an extra head.

I have to say, the general condition of discs in Xtra-Vision are pretty poor to begin with. It isn't unheard of that they would look up the last user of a disc should the next customer complain.

I believe GAME have some disc repair service. Not sure it works for blu-ray though.

I remember seeing it in the Ilac.

I've rented games from xtravision rather than buy one outright, if i like it i'll buy it from a shop if not then i haven't bought something thats crap & that i can't get rid of. I've never had a problem with any of the games i've rented, movies yes, games, no.

Well we used to get alot back. I imagine rental per disk is down on PS3 games compared to PS2 but the game in question was popular I imagine.

I remember hearing years ago if you wipe the surface with a silk cloth it cleans it better. Its worth a try
