Was gonna post the exact same thing. Looks great value, but if it has one or two serious issues, it is worth nothing at all. Now with at least a years NCT and a fully documented and stamped service history since new, that would sure be a good deal (pending a thorough checkout obviously)

Thats an awful lot of car for 6k. But at that price there could be a big bill around the corner...

This is a genuine question - but why is this a bargain over any of the other 10 year old luxury barges that have been priced to clear for the last couple of years? Edit: I do admit that the design looks very fresh compared to many others.

Very nice... Ah the day I buy one they'll be for nothing. It's great. I'll have my black diesel LWB with light tint windows and a nice set of wheels. MMmmmm

Thought it was Halfords first, but no, I'd say your right actually. Funny that.

Which is worse, the owner sticking the badge on or me recognising where it came from?:o

Sure let's do a good old decent off topic one here :D

    What is that V6 badge?

Not sure if it is from a Maxima, Anan1. I thought you were wrong completely when you posted first as the V and the 6 merge in the Maxima V6 badge:

    no-image-large.gif

Until I looked at a few pics of the youngest Maximas on carzone and indeed the badge looked a lot more like that:

    media?id=5600547

Still the 6 looks a bit rounder on the Maxima and the distance between the V and the 6 is bigger on the Maxima too compared with that picture of the S-class. But I could very well be completely wrong here :D

Well it's definitly not the Halfords badge, you can see that from a mile away. Is there any V6 badges on the wings of those yokes?

I dunno, unkel, I had a bit of a zoom on the Mercedes pic and it looks very much like the Maxima badge you posted, although I can't see whether the letters are actually joined. Any volunteers to call the owner and ask?;)

In reference to the "radio cassette in a 02", it's just an option you click on the carzone database thing. It either has one along with a cd player, or else they were click happy that day.

How much would road tax on the A8 be per year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,263 ✭✭✭✭Eoin

    1500 I think

The V6 badge on the merc is deffo not the maxima one.

The V8 badge on the Octavia... Hahaha

Wow. It would explain the low prices.

How many people shopping in the 5-10k price range could afford that tax cost, the cost of refuelling a 4.2 and the insurance?

    Nice car all the same.

The other way to look at it is if you can afford the running costs, then the fact it's in the 5-10K price range just means that it's a bargain. It's certainly not budget motoring, but I don't think anyone is saying that.

On the flip side, people will pay 15K for a car that might have great MPG, but will depreciate a lot more than the cost of the road tax on a luxo-barge.

There's a thing. A lot of people in this country think along those lines. First check how affordable the repayments are and then check how much the running costs are

That's why buying brand new sh1tboring econoboxes is (or should I say was) so popular here. Sure €5k up front plus only €99 a week for 5 years to get a base Golf 75BHP is cheap, innit? And insurance, petrol and tax are very reasonable too.

Other folk spend a lot less per year on total cost of motoring but they do drive nice higher end cars, albeit not new or nearly new ones at that :)

Edit: damn you, eoin, you pretty much beat me to it :D

...yep, despite 3.0 petrol, 23mpg etc etc, my 968 Tip costs less per month than my 06 Saab 9-3 1.9 diesel to own. Actually, damn near 50% less...... Q.E.D. methinks.......

On second thoughts. Maybe we shouldn't rattle the status quo too much. Let them have their Toyotas :D

....ah yes, on mature recollection..standing on my record..........I'd like to retract my previous comment.

I'm obviously deluded, and for that, I'm sorry.

Please resume normal Avensii purchases service......... :D:D;)

Hmmm... now you've got me thinking. How in the name of the motoring gods can a Porsche be half the running costs of an Avensii?
