Hi all,ive just moved warehouse from out the country to great location, nearer the city, with great passing traffic, took me about 6 weeks,to move tools, machinery, and then had to fix up the new premises,to make it secure, etc, then I parked my van, with advertising on the side just outside the main gate entrance,on the grass area near the road, and was greating great response from passing traffic, people were coming in to have a look around, gave them brochures, etc, then lo and behold, along comes the council, and say, that the van isnt allowed on the grass area,no advertising can be done on the outside area at all,i asked him was he for real, with the country on its knees, etc, but the van had to be taken in,has anyone experienced this,is there a way around it,but, driving around the city, there is signs all over the place

It depends which council you refer to. I know they all have the same rule book but some of them are absolute hitlers about the rules.

Take galway county for instance. They are fairly cool about putting up signs (plactic cory board ones) about the county as long as they are not in dangerous places, above head level, and not over the top. Eventually when they get pis5ed of the signs, they call you and tell you to remove them or else. Same with Mayo and Clare really.

Now, take Sligo. I have 4 x 150 fines land in my office from some over enthusastic female litter wardden who wrote all the fines in the one day. Thats just plain hitlerisim if you ask me. (yes, and before all you law abiding citizens start lecturing me on "Thems the rules..bla bla bla" - I already know.;) )

So ya, they can bust your nuts for trying to be innovative and creative about making a few bob and there is nothing you can do to prevent it!

Planning permission this, litter laws that. They should have had these eager beavers controling the country years ago!

Humm, you might be lucky. But thats technically a fixed structure erection:D which you may need palnning permission for. I would say risk it for a biscut and plead ignorance when caught. Its works for politicans and bankers.

Or do the smart thing and engage with your local Planning Authority. Applications for retention of planning cost 3x in terms of contributions in lots of local authorities.

Go and have a chat with someone in the Dept. and see if there is any exempted development that you could utilise, if not draw up your proposal and lodge an application and you will have your answer in 8 weeks.

    Or that way!
