I have used both in the past and have found American Holidays a little more expensive, but much more professional to deal with. In saying that, I did not have any major problems with either of them.

Can I ask why you are using a travel agent for a one stop holiday? I think it would be FAR cheaper to book everything seperately yourself. I am going to Orlando in August and for two weeks, staying at a Disney moderate hotel, including tickets, car and Disney Dining plan, I am paying €2800 for two adults. The exact same holiday (without the Disney tickets) was over €1000 dearer with both Tour America and American holidays.

I could see the logic of booking with a TA if you had lots of stops/hotels/flights but when it is a straightforward holiday like Orlando, it would be crazy to pay a travel agent premium. What kind of price were you being quoted? Have you tried pricing yourself?

Yeah hotels in orlando working out around 500dollars then flights were bout 500 each with aer lingus. With TA online its working out 1350 all in excl car hire which is 190 when booking by myself 10 nights. In TA office they quoted 1800 so saving by doin it online. To be fair the assistant in TA was full of little or no info(just our luck) anywhere else we book agents tell ye their experinces but one we got was dire. Can anyone tell us why is it dearer to do it in person than online. Also anyone know good places to get theme park tickets. Ill check other forum for info also.

That seems really reasonable, seems like a hard price to beat. I know what you mean about Tour America not being much help, I found that with them too. Luckily, when I booked with them, I had already been to Orlando, so didn't need that much help. Quite a lot of holiday companies give a discount for booking online, however this does seem like a massive saving. Why don't you get whatever info you need over the phone and then book online?

Have you been on the Trip Advisor Orlando forum? http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowForum-g34515-Orlando_Florida.html
This is an amazing forum, there is nothing that these guys do not know the answer to and it is a very busy forum so you should have any questions answered really quickly. Even just reading through it for a couple of weeks will give you so much info.

As for tickets, what parks where you hoping to visit? Bear in mind that there are 4 Disney parks, two Disney waterparks, 2 Universal parks, 2 Universal waterparks, Seaworld, Discovery cove and a whole host of smaller attractions. So realistically, you are not gonna get to see them all in 10 days! A couple of good sites to get tickets are www.mapleleaftickets.com and www.undercovertourist.com For Universal tickets, Virgin Holidays were doing quite good value tickets a couple of weeks ago (you don't have to have booked your holiday with them). Be wary of any site that is offering super cheap tickets, the tickets are never very heavily discounted, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Both the sites I mentioned above are authorised by Disney and Universal to sell tickets and are very reliable.

If you have any further questions, feel free to PM me!

Oh by the way, Tour America will prob try and sell you attraction tickets, DON'T BUY FROM THEM, THEY ARE A RIP OFF! Either of the sites I mentioned in my previous post should be substantially cheaper....

    Hi all

Having dealt with both A.H and T.A, the prices are cheaper with T.A.
I have been in florida a few times, disney tickets are the same but the flexi orlando tickets are cheaper to buy before you go and thats definite with T.A. T.A Staff have all been to the places too so they know a lot. american holidays office is nicer

I have used American Holidays. It was strange. It was the first time I could not find the flights cheaper, hotels cheaper than anywhere else.

The girl said she had stayed in a few of the hotels on their brochure but I am always sceptical of this.

I picked Staybridge Suites anyway(1st time in the US) but in future I will choose a Disney home(dont drink and love driving).

The only thing I found cheaper than with American holidays were the car hire(miles cheaper) and the park tickets which were cheaper but there were more types of tickets on offer from other agents.

I never checked Tour America but did check Can American who were very expensive for the same resorts.

I also stayed in an Ocean View Suite in the Tradewinds Island Grand in St Petersburg. Nice hotel, terrible location. (thought I would throw that in).

P.S Polly Pocket 123. For a first ever post you are very complimentary about T.A - always very suspicious. ;)
