    Guys,

I recently purchased a 40" Full HD Samsung LCD (series 6), I turned on the TV this afternoon only to see a thin black line going straight down the left hand side of the screen. I purchased it with a credit card, is there an issue with bringing it back to Power City? Last year I had a problem with a Sony DVD recorder that I bought there, I ended up in the small claims court as they wouldn't replace it....after 2 repairs.

Any advice would be great, I think my lovely tv is fecked. :(:(

Shouldn't be, I bought a Samsung from them last year and a problem with it. I rang them up (bought online but collected from Fonthill) they told me to bring it back, which I did and they exchanged it for a new one. If I was, I would contact Samsungs Tech dept and see cna you reset the TV I had to that first though, made no difference and this when it was exchanged.

Thanks for the reply man, did they make you wait long for the swap?

No, didnt have any hassle. I rang their customer service number. You should have it if you bought online. Explain the problem that you are having, more then likely they will get you to contact Samsung technical. Once it couldn't be sorted, I rang the store where I picked up and they done a swop for it.
I didn't even have the box for it, they just took a new one out of abox in the shop and gave to me.
Not a problem with since :D

good to hear that man, I have to say the picture quality was outstanding before this happened.

I'll call samsung in the morning and do the pointless reset, then I'll ring Power City and see if I can get a replacement.

I was talking to samsung support and they walked me through the 2 step reset procedure....the line is gone. Now I really don't know what to do, is there something wrong with the TV.....I'd be totally pissed off if this happened again.

Should I ask power city for a replacement?

No it seems that the TV is working fine. These things are so high tech. The only thing is by doing the reset it brings it back to factory settings. The TV has a 12 month warrenty... Don't get too stressed man, its never worth it ;)

Unfortunately the problem happened again, the reset only lasted a couple of hours. I'm packing the TV and bringing it back to Power City, I'll accept nothing other than a new replacement...I'm not waiting weeks for this to be repaired.

Did you bring it back yet? I would contact customer service first though, to make sure they have one in stock and that they will do a swop over. Once you they agree get the guys name, and tell then in the store.
    Best of luck man ;)

I brought it back 2day, they said that they won't exchange it until an engineer looks at it on Monday, I told them I want a replacement. I had a DVD Recorder "repaired" in there b4....it came back scratched to pieces.

Sugar man, hopefully they exchange it for you... I only had mine less then a week when it played up, and maybe thats the reason it was exchanged.
They have to return it back to you in the same condition you gave it in.
Point this out to them if they are going to repair it

    An Update Guys,

So they took it in 2 weeks ago for a "repair", I left it in a box, 2day I collected it...it wasn't even in a box or covered...it was very dirty. I brought it home and the same prob immediately showed up, the lazy ass Fu*kers must have only tried a system restore. I'm bringing it back to the store 2morrow and I am demanding a replacement at this stage.....I will not accept a repair.

Any advice as to how I go about this?

    Any Advice Guys???

I brought the TV back for the 2nd time this afternoon, I've informed them that I won't accept another "repair" on the TV, I gave them the TV and all the accessories and told them I wanted a replacement.

I will never buy from Powercity again.

Has anyone got contact details for Samsung support?
I have a series 5 Full HD 32" and one of the hdmi ports died around 6 weeks ago. I bought it from Curys in Mahon.

Just an update, Power City not only decided to offer me a replacement for my TV, they offered me a free upgrade to the 46inch model, needless to say I'm delighted with the result. Anyway well done to Power City on this.
