    Hi all,

Just looking for some help please. I started weightwatchers after christmas and reached my first stone on Monday (so happy!) so ive decided to ditch the black trousers and baggy tops for an occasion i have coming up,Im a size 14 now and am 5'6. My nephew is being christened in 3 weeks so i have been looking for a nice day dress, nothing too dressy as it will be a casual affair but have had no luck. Can anyone recommend something suitable that might be good for my shape as i have been looking and although i have seen quite a few nice things im not really sure what would suit me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You've only mentioned your size but not what shape you are. Dressing your shape is more important than dressing your size. It might be helpful to say what you are (eg, apple, hourglass, pear etc)

Whatever it is make sure it's cinched in in the middle to make the most of your shape.

Pencil skirts look good too and an open neckline, round, square or V.

hey was shopping today for a dress for my daughters confirmation, similar affair, i'm a size 12 with big boobies! I saw some lovley dresses in monsoon, really nice vnecks with thick straps so you can wear a full bra. At 5 ft 6 , size 14 hourglass there is a lot you can wear, and dresses are really in fashion again, so you should be able to have a lot of fun shopping. Try debenhams, they are always great for dresses.
Like i said look at the v necks with cinched in waists and slightly more flaired skirts, or as the other poster said, pencil dresses would look great on you. I saw a really cute black one in H&M today for €29.90 (bargain, bought it) i found the dresses in Zara were too floaty and gave no shape they are best for the real skinnys, Ended up buying the black one and a really pretty coral one in Awear for €36, it was the day of the bargains. Good luck, well done with the weight loss and enjoy shopping.

Yeah, I'd go with a wrap dress too. When you loose more weight, then you can still wear it - just pull it a bit tighter.

Well done on loosing the weight!

How about a wrap dress? Gok wan lives by this rule!

I love Gok, but he (and all other other fashion people) are so wrong about wrap dresses. They do absolutely nothing for the bigger-breasted lady and often just serve to highlight the boobies even more.
