harem pants, peg legs anyone?

Has anybody spotted either harem pants or peg leg trousers on the streets yet? They seem completely ridiculous to me, something totally impractical conjured up by the fashion industry way back before the credit crunch. One particularly fashion-forward girl I half-know wore peg legs into the office a couple of weeks ago and they were kinda cute, but kinda cute isn't exactly the look anybody is going for in a work situation.
As for harem pants... all that fabric billowing around a girl's mid-thighs... the essential fitted top, the mandatory towering bondage shoes if, by some miracle, you're blessed with the proportions to wear them... It all just seems like too much hard work.
Am I the only person who can't shake this image of MC Hammer all those years ago?

Yes, bizarrely, I heard those MC Hammer trousers were making a comeback, in fact my mate and I took great delight a few weeks back, in giggling at some poor unfortunate fashion victim wearing them here in Melbourne. The payback to this was I had "Hammertime' stuck in my head all day - as I now do again! *grumble*

What on earth are 'Peg Leg' trousers?

Hey, blast from the past - do you remember those 'Peggy's Leg' sweets? They used to look like smaller, brown coloured sticks of rock? We used to get them in school. God, I haven't though about them in probably 15+ years.

They both look absolutely ridiculous, but at least it marks people out as being complete and utter suckers if they wear them.

I have a cool pair of peg leg pants that I got from Warehouse. I think I look good in them...looking for to the summer months so that I can wear them more...wouldn't call myself a "Sucker" though. I amn't a slave to fashion either. What do you say to the 1000's of girls wearing ill-fitting Ugg Boots?? They are an unattractive piece of footwear in my opinion and do nothing for the wearer's legs but I 'd never call someone a name for wearing them.

Maybe this is a Yay or Nay Post??

I say Yay, for what it's worth. Not much probably:D

OK, I've googled to no avail. What on earth are Peg leg pants?
All I'm getting are results which look like skinny jeans?

    Ugg Boots

Oh dear God are people still wearing UGG boots? *Barf*

These are the "Offending" articles...I like em...Hide a big bum..show off nice skinny ankles and calves...cool with gladiator heels:p

    Thanks for that.

Ok, sorry but no, not my cup of tea at all, at all. They're way to 80's looking for me and the gladiator heels aren't selling them for me unfortunately as I detest those things too. I'm just not into wearing clothes that are dictated by seasons or current fashions.

I was in shop a few months back here in Melbourne and I saw a beautiful looking top, I tried it on and within 2 seconds realised it was one of those ones, which were all the rage here for the past 6 months, which make you look 8 months pregnant. Was such a shame as it looked so pretty on the hanger.

Whilst in the changing-room, the assistant was badgering me asking; 'how you gow-win'? To which I said in a very polite manner; "Thanks, but no thanks, I'm not really into the pregnant look when I'm not etc"... she replied with a very irritating:

"fair enough, but you really should have at least one of those tops in your wardrobe - they're in fashion you know, everyone has one!"

I felt a tad sorry for her to be honest and promptly (yet diplomatically) told her I normally dressed by what looks good on me and suits my figure, not by what society or a stupid magazine tells me to.

    I still like them...Not a fashion thing...I just like them...Even though I am in my mid thirtys...and loving it:D

Still not sold on the Ugg boots. Not my decaf latte!!!:D

i quite like both of these styles tbh; not because they're fashionable; I just like them.

Can remember watching I dream of Genie and thinking her pants were cool:o

Aswell as that as I'm tall and slim(ish;)) so they suit me.... I think anyways:D

I kinda like Harem pants, they look good on some people. I think you need to be tall with thin ankles to wear them though, which I am so I'm on the lookout for a nice pair.

I'm not so fond of peg leg pants though.

Not a fan of harem pants. Have seen a few pics of Katie Holmes in pegged jeans and thought they looked okay on her but I wouldn't be rushing out to buy a pair.

When I was in Portugal last summer there were lots of stalls selling these things. If you are tall, thin and foreign and preferrably near a beach, perhaps. Otherwise no.

I think they're really nice and I like tapered jeans too. but I don't like the mc hammer ones that come down.

Yeah, they look quite cool there but... the rolled-up legs, the roomy upper thighs, the high waist... they're like the outfit I wore to my sister's confirmation in 1988...

Re the Ugg boots... I'm not a fan either. But, love them or loathe them, they've been knocking around for five years now so I guess we're going to have to accept that they more or less define this decade in the manner that flares defined the Seventies.
