ive been growin the owl mop for a long time now ( say a year)...its long... its just past my neck ..like a bad mullet :(:o:((shame)....its really poofy and big when i wash it, and it just looks awful and rediculous to the stage were i keep it in a beanie:o

i was wondering if i went to the barbers..would they cut it, because ive been going to one in coolock for years, and im a bit shy to turn up with longish hair...will they mind,?..i want them to cut it short..(but not tight)

i wouldnt know how to describe what way i want it :(

Honestly the barber won't care what length your hair is when you go in. Lots of people grow their hair long and then get it cut short again. If you have a particular style in mind, try to find a picture of it to bring. If not, talk to the barber - he'll help you find what you're looking for.

A few years ago Mrs. Goat pointed out that my bald spot was now visible through my crowning glory of leonine, small of my back length, hair. I had asked her years before to tell me when it started to look bad, bald with a ponytail is just wrong. Two minutes later I walked into my local barber and told him to give me a number 3 all over and I got a round of applause from the others in the chairs who were waiting for a cut. The barber hesitated, asked me once if I was sure, then he got stuck in.
Your barber won't mind at all. You are a customer and he wants your €10 in the till.

If you want to keep it long but styled take this advice.

DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR A BARBER.

    Have a nice day! :)

They don't care, they'll just lop it off.

I have to disagree with those slating barbers. Some barbers, just like some hairstylist, may be bad but the inverse of that is true too. My barber (On the Northside OP, not too far from Coolock - PM me if you need to) has stood the test of time. He has plied his trade for years, he has built his business up from a single chair and he provides a very profesional cut and service.

Perhaps if others are having problems with their barbers it's perhaps because they are expecting a High Street style for a back street price.

Few if any barbers are going to give you a hairstyle/makeover/miracle but if what you are seeking is a good clean haircut or trim, a shave or just tidy up then the majority of barbers are quick, clean and efficent.

If you don't get the service you expect then change your barber but don't lump them all together into a group and condem them out of hand.

That tells me you are 27 and that you have never been to the same barbers more then twice. ;)

That implies to me that you may be:
A: Still looking for a barber that suits you
B: You are incapable of commiting to a hairstyle and/or a barber
    C: You travel a lot.
    D: You are fickle.
E: You have been increadably unlucky in your choice of barbers
F: You have very unruely hair that is difficult to cut
G: You enjoy visiting different barbers.
    H: You don't like barbers

Any or all of the above may or may not be true, they are just what I am infering from your post.
    :)
