    From cnnsi.com

"Derrick Brooks and four other high-priced veterans have been released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brooks is a former NFL Defensive Player of the Year who's been the heart and soul of a defense that ranked among the league's best for more than a decade and keyed the team's run to its only Super Bowl title in 2002.

The other players released were receivers Joey Galloway and Ike Hilliard, linebacker Cato June and running back Warrick Dunn."

I can't believe they'd do that to Brooks and Galloway, extremely unfair to two great servants of that team. Deals could and should have been worked out to allow them to remain. The Buccs already had the most ever cap room heading into free agency so it's a bad sign and I suspect will cause huge controversy in the locker room. Cato June will be a good pickup for somebody.

Young coach wants a young team. Those were servants of the team, but they were Gruden's servants of the team and if the Bucs weren't going to make a championship push next year, I suppose it makes sense to clean house now. It was a bit drastic though.

I think there's alot of different reasons behind this move. There all fairly old and on big corrects. Realistically the bucs should give up on the next 2 years and just try and re-build the team. They certainly arent a young team but they have plenty of cap space which help.

The other reasons I think have alot to do with the bucs implosion last year/gruden getting fired. Apperantly alot of the players didnt like Gruden and they got him the boot, if your a new coach would you want those kind of players in your locker room? The fact the blow late on in the season does say much about there experienced leadership skills either.

Sorry to see Brooks go. He was always one of my favorite players in the League and I like to see guys like that start and finish their careers with the same team.

Should be interesting to see what Tampa does now that they have the most Cap room in Free Agency!

Hence Jeff Garcia will need to find somewhere else to act like a goon and play backup QB.
