    Hi,

Any recommendations on a good primer for mid-thirties skin? I've greasy splotchy skin, so any foundation I put on (at the moment, it's lancome) simply slides off before the day is out.

I'm getting paid at the weekend so I'd love a few pointers before I hit town on Saturday.

    Thanks!

Not sure about older skin, but I have been using Smashbox primer since Christmas, and I find it really good. There's a smashbox counter in Clery's.

Also, apparently Yves Saint Laurent primer is brillian, but fairly pricey (around €50). My 40+ year old aunt uses it and says its the best thing she has.

As far as I can figure, these are the best two on the market at the moment. Hope this helps!

Great - I'll have a look at the smashbox and YSL websites before parting with any cash.

    Thanks for that

    Hi

I also use the smashbox one, I like it but not hugely impressed by it. Clarins do a couple - Beauty Flash Balm, not strictly a primer but works wonders in holding your make up in place and giving a great finish to your base, and Instant Smooth which smooths your skin and mattifies it. Both are great.

Another smashbox primer user here! I find it brilliant. They have a few different types of it i.e a green-tinted one for a colour corrector, so im sure that they will have one that is suitable for older skin. No doubt that the assistants at the smashbox counter will help you.:pac:
Hope you find one you're happy with!:D

I use the Laura Mercier one and it's pretty good. They're in BT's, beware of wanting to buy everything on the counter though!

Although it's not officially a primer, I use Estee Lauder Idealist as a primer, I love it but it's pricey.

    All great replies.
@mrsberries, I actually bought the Clarins beauty flash balm a couple of years ago but I think I ended up leaving it behind somewhere.
    Thanks for all the help...

Sorry this mite be a little late for you but I've had the same problem as you:( I used "Smashbox" but really couldn't see any difference, except in my pocket! I now use "Lancome- LA BASE pro" and find it great. It's around 33 euro and lasts well:)
