Hi I have some essays to do real soon and the current computer I'm using doesn't have Microsoft Office. I've heard Open Office is a good free replacement but I have two questions.

    1) Might be a silly one this but I'll ask anyway. If you download Open Office does it affect wordpad in any way? I just have a lot of draft work in there that I don't want to lose.

    2) Is it capable of dealing with footnotes easily enough?

    Thanks in advance.
