170 for extracting 2 wisdom teeth & 1 filling - Expensive?

    Hi all,
I went to the dentist today & had an inspection & cleaning under PRSI. Then also had to pay €20 for an x-ray. This was my first PRSI visit in about 2 years.
They quoted me €170 for extracting 2 top wisdom teeth + a small filling. It breaks down as 60 for each wisdom tooth + 50 for the filling. This I was told includes the PRSI 'discount' - normally an extraction for one would be €80.

I would like to know if you think this is value for money or expensive?
Is there more I can do re. PRSI? [I thought under PRSI extraction would only be 20 or so??]

Any advice or thoughts would be more than welcome.

Dreaming of a boat imo thats great value!

It would cost you more if you were referred onto an oral surgeon for the teeth to be extracted as depending on the dentist not everyone would be willing to do these extractions.
Theres nothing else you get under your social welfare apart from that and two cleanings a year-they pay a balance on what you have paid depending on what treatment is done-shop around for another dentist if you think its too expensive in future or ask for prices before going ahead with work.

The only thing that covers you in full for this treatment would be a medical card.
