We all know that the MkVI is really only a reskined MkV but it looks like the recently launched MkVI is only a stop gap for when the MkVII arrives in 2012. Styling is typical Golf but the big differences appear to be under the skin.

Emphasis seems to be on loosing those extra pounds that the Golf has put on over the years to reduce emmissions further. It will be interesting to see if the real thing turns out like the above photos.

It combines a frugal 1.5-litre diesel unit with three compact electric motors, and the plug-in drivetrain can operate on battery power alone below 31mph for around 30 miles. Above that speed, it works in tandem with the oil-burner, and takes over entirely at motorway speeds. The result is a startling 113mpg – more than twice what a standard 2.0-litre TDI can muster.

 Very impressive, but wonder will it become a reality?

This is what Auto Express reckon a Golf might look like in 3 years time, nothing more. I have some old issues of AE around the house, you wouldn't believe some of the crap they've come up with over the years.

There was a guy on MINI2 who photoshopped his own 'spy shots' and submitted them to Auto Express. And they published it as fact ... draw your own conclusions from that one!

This Auto Express stuff is bull****, they just creat 3d visuals of what they think might happen & present it as fact - they also butchered the Alfa 149... Their images have nothing to do with reality

Look how thin the C-pillar is. That can't be a Golf. The front looks a bit like a pre-facelifted Focus, and the rear is a bit 'Daewoo' for my liking.
