i recently priced the same laptops in pc world after pricing them earlier at xmas. the prices have shot up by about 50-100euro and the specs(ram in particular) have been reduced. most of the machines in pcworld were reduced from 3-4gb to just 1-2gb. are they pulling a fast one or what?

just now ive been back onto dabs to check out a lenovo n500 which was recommended to me here but the price has gone up in just two days. i could get one with less spec for the original price. whats goin on? please enlighten me. it cant be supply and demand, there arent many who can splash out on a laptop anymore unless its a necessity

surely it should be the other way around and the prices coming down but the specs improving

Euro peaked vs Sterling in late December, and has fallen since.

Also factor in the USD and Yen rates relative to euro and GBP. The buy price for importers and distributors in Europe has risen in many cases.

I'm interested in a similar laptop.

Unless you need to buy urgently, I'd be inclined to just wait and see.

There will be plenty of online and bricks & mortar shops going to the proverbial wall soon.

We were screwed for years, a buyers' market is emerging. Time to reciprocate if you've got cash.

    I don't think that's a fair statement.

I bought a Pentium M with 512Mb of Ram a few years ago and it's still running fine.

For the same price now, I can get a dual core machine, with 4Gig of Ram and nearly double the battery life.
