Replace Key on an Avensis Verso (old)

I have a 02 Toyota Avensis Verso, and I have lost the master key and only have the valet key left.

I contacted my local Toyota dealer, and they said that I would have to have the computer of the car replaced as they can't copy a key from the valet key. I found company called autokey in Tallaght who say they can reprogramme the car computer to accept new keys.

Does this work, and does anyone have any experience of this company? It would be much cheaper to get this done with these people.

    Thanks!

I have an 07 Avensis and just lost the only key I had.

The car is open. Called toyota and was quoted over 2000eur to get back running again.

    What are my alternatives???

yes it will work, all you need to get is a toyota key with a 4C Transponder inserted from either the dealer or a locksmith and then get your ecu programmed to a virgin state so it will then be ready to accept a new key.

    Thank you Paultronix.

Do you have contact details for somebody that will do it? I have contacted three Toyota dealers and they have the same story. New ECU behind the glove, a possible second, somewhere behind the dash, because it's a D4D, ignition barrel, door and boot barrel's and €400 to fit, all + vat.

My own Toyota garage tells me to buy everything secondhand and they will fit it for €400

Sorry pellet but this was a reply to the original post but i have now read your post and the 2007 avensis would use a different key which would be a 4D type transponder.
Where in the country are you and i may be able to give you a contact who can help.

First time user of "boards" sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm in the north west, but i could get the car brought anywhere if required at this stage.

Hello Paultronix. You replaced the key on my Avensis last year - great job. I lost your number and I need another job done. Frank, Carrick on Shannon. Thanks
