Gel Nails

I've just had gel nails applied (4 days ago) and they have to be the worst job I've ever had done on them. I had acrylics before and let them grow off.

I'm just wondering, can I refill them with acrylic or do I have to leave them? They've lifted at the sides and are chipping everywhere - the layer of gel is so thin on my nail bed and then gets really thick towards the tip and doesn't look great.

Even to repair them, would it be worth going somewhere else to get the repairs done in case I have another botch job done again?

Was it done in a salon?! You should just go back and ask for them to be sorted out. At the very least they should file them right down with the exception of the tips and then re-apply the gel.
I'm not entirely sure if you can fix them with acryllic, I know you can put a gel overlay on top of acryllic so possibly the other way around too.

Either way anyway, I'd speak to the person who applied them for you

Yes it was done in a salon - I wanted acrylics and I'm sorry now that I didn't wait and just get them done instead - thanks for your advice. I'm going in tomorrow and just hope I'm not charged - 3 have snapped off. It's not like I'm doing manual labour or anything

OP, I am a nail technician and it sounds like it was done by someone who only started or just qualified. Either way, she shouldnt have left them like that. You can't fill gel with acrylic, you can only fill acrylic with gel. Dont let this experience put you off getting gel again!! In my humble opinion, they are the better of the two! Just make sure you tell them when you go in next that you are in for a redo and you expect not to be charged. Any nice salon wont charge you.

Thanks - I am now left with 2 on one hand and 3 on the other. She told me she has being doing them for 10 years and that she's taught other people to do them but I don't know - they just lift and started to lift on the night I got them done. The 5 that are left are in an awful state and look brutal also - I'm considering just asking for a refund and going somewhere else to get a proper job done :(

Jeez 10 years??? She probably got a load of air bubbles underneath. That messes the whole thing up. I know if it was me, I'd be straight there and I wouldnt leave til I got my money back. At this stage I wouldnt even ask for replacements!!!!
