First I've heard of it. It certainly wasn't mentioned in any DoJ meeting.

going from proposing an outright ban and tighter controls to raising the limits sounds a bit out there to me

Indeed, and at the last DoJ meeting, they were very clear to point out the 1 Joule limit is a hard limit and there is no allowance. So I very much doubt there is any increase coming any time soon.

Can I expand slightly on something i heard from a non airsofter. Basically regarding the colour of the equipment. Is it still the case the colour is to remain the same or original. I heard that starter pistols for running etc have to be coloured like uk.

The notes from the IAA/IASRA meeting with the DoJ in january are up on irishairsoft.ie in the 'meeting minutes' section (http://irishairsoft.ie/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/department_of_justice_meeting_minutes_januar-2.pdf)

Can't comment on start pistols or anything, but AEGs are remaining the same under the current proposals.

I suppose the only real answer is, nobody knows.
Its extremely unlikely though and there has not been any indication of this happening from the government/DOJ.,

it would be cool if we were allowed a little more when you think of how much more powerful paintball is compared to airsoft, but i wouldn't hold my breath., :)
