    Hi all,

i just having problem with my BMW lately,
sometimes it would not start after say an hour after being on the road,
but if you wait say 40 mins it will start again...,

    and just last 2 weeks,
the engine starts cutting out in the middle of the road,
but when i waited 10 mins later,
i can restart the car again ,

i got a mechanic friend to have a look at it with the diagnostic computer previously ( a few months back),
    it showing up no faults,
he says the bmw garage does the same computer tests and will charge me a fortune for it,

wondering if people have the same problem,
or if there's any bmw people out there that know what's going on?,

should i go to bmw garage?

    thanks.......

Id be thinking fuel filter or fuel pump.

Could be a Lambda (oxygen) sensor as are prone to the odd failure on the E46, runs like it's running out of fuel can easily be detected by a diagnostics comp, bring it to AC car sales and they'll sort it for you.
