Im not sure where to put this so mods feel free to move.
Im in 6th year and I am 18.I went to the shop today and they wouldnt serve me because I was wearing my uniform.I said grand but then it happened in another shop I went to.They said that they are legaly entitled to not serve me because of my uniform.I know that most shops have a right to refuse anybody but is there a specific (sub-law?) stating that they can refuse people due to uniform?I had my passport so age was not an issue. Also while I am on a rant. How hard is it to figure out someones age when looking at their date of birth?!the guy in the shop today was convinced I was only 17!

Should have shouted "Rape" and see how they'd like it.

Was it by any chance an off license, of course they wouldn't serve you when you're in a school uniform, doesn't mater what age you are. How would it look for the business with school children coming out carrying a 6 pack.

it does seem unfair alright but maybe they thought there would be a chance you were getting it for other kids..?

To be fair now that's not much of a rant at all.

    Ann Summers?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Most people buy uniforms in there - they don't wear them in.

Op, look at it from their point of view and you'll find it totally understandable.

I think he means even if it looks bad on them they have a legal entitlment to serve anyone over 18. Otherwise shop-owners could discriminate!

I think you were more embarrassed than anything and i was the same when i used to get asked for id and that. They were right not to serve you if they felt it would harm their reputation. What were you buying? Beer? Cigs? Fair play to them for bothering to care though even though i agree it's a horrible situation.

I think they have the right to refuse, it just can't be based on sex, creed, race, etc

They guy's 18, he has a right to buy what the hell he wants, regardless of what he is wearing. What he does with that item is another case. It's a load of balls OP.

If it was an off license, they can refuse service without giving reason and it is not discrimination, i think a shop just needs to stick a sign up saying "management reserves the right to refuse service" and they cant be done for discrimination unless they stupidly give a reason.

Anyway, i know of shops in my town were one of the schools ask the owners not to serve students while during school hours. And i think one of the shopping centres dont allow students in during school hours.

The "management reserves the right to refuse service" sign have as much legal standing as the "No Refunds", jack **** all....

Same here. My school I'd banned from... Not just Domino's pizza but also the Pavillions. Most people just go down to Subway anyway. Better than anywhere else tbh.

You aren't one of the little feck's that hangs out at subways....
You should be banned from the main street as well....

I'd recommend you take some time to google that stance, because it's incorrect.

But aren't you entering into a contract with the shop by trying to buy the product and they can accept your offer, refuse it or counter offer?

When I was in school every day I used to buy whiskey, cigarettes, condoms, dildos, lube, poppers and gay porn during my lunch break.

I had good times when I was a teacher
