OK, can anyone help, this has been wreaking my head for ages!

1)Does the standard ford/opel garda car have an am/fm radio?

    2)Does it work?

3)Do members use it, if it does work?

4)Does it have a connection for my i-pod:D

Only you can answer theses questions!

    1) Yep, they are just standard cars kitted out a bit after all

    2) Depends on the car.

    3) Ah sure why not, as long as its not blaring and the 2way radio can be heard:cool:

    4) Keep dreaming

They are removed but depending on how the tetra is fitted you can usually get a stereo back in whtout much trouble

    What about a cd changer?

if you take the radios out of the cars especally if radio built into dash then you make car dangerous if invovled in crash..... lots of cars have radios in them but are coded and disabled....

If they remove the radio altogether how am I supposed to listen to my AC/DC. Hendrix CDs? IMO it will be a long shift listening to my oppo singing for 8 hrs

Remember couple of years back the radios were missing when we got cars??. The plan was to remove them (just like when they removed the winder for the seat...only deadwood will remember that he he).
Then a certain model was involved in a ramming. The vehicles dash crumpled to the extreme and injured members. The manufacture was called out to inspect the car, as AGS tried to dodge the claim and on seeing the radio was gone.....they instently said that the vehicles was crash tested with the radio fitted and so it was AGS fault. Radios back thank god!!:D

The one on top of the dash is for the PA system in the lightbar.
    Rarely used.

Are there new ones out??? We got a 08 there couple of months ago and it had that on it. Also saw new vehicles in Clara with the english type light/siren controls, the big ones same as RSU ones.

The lights/siren control in the pre 2006 cars was a joke! Looked more like a puzzle that a control panel!

It must be really boring driving around with a radio. I know in one of the unmarked cars the radio was hooked up in the glove compartment but that was mannny years ago.

Back in the old days we were too busy keeping an eye out for lawbreakers to be listening to the radio.

What next, mules on the beat with their IPOD in?

You need them for your chase music, and for a background to your internal monologue.

this could be the reason why we have a Lawless Ireland. Get rid of the radios!!

I'm not a cop but if I were the temptation to hold the p.a mic to the radio speaker during a chase blaring out the 'cops' theme tune would be to much to resist...:D

that or the music of an ice-cream van :D

it is always funny though when you give the newbie the p.a. and tell them to get a vehicle check

I find the theme for Deliverance works well for certain neighbourhoods. The theme from Shaft works in the shmoke. I feel a new thread coming on.

It happened me a few weeks ago, took me a second to realise why 30 people suddenly started staring at the patrol car.
    I had to laugh though!!!:D

Hope they don't stop installing 'Run-Lock' with the PA system, beats the crap out of having to push start the car after the battery has run down from the lights and siren going when the car is turned off.
