    Why do you need the thread deleted to reuse the domain?

    the archived thread is being crawled by google, hence the request.

    Even if it's deleted, google will continue to keep it in cache indefinitely. So there's no point in deleting it.

    yes google will keep it in the cache, but if the thread is removed then google will either find a page cannot be displayed, or something simliar to ...

    That's a very different type of request.

    In the interests of my technical curiosity, I've removed it. But I'm still doubtful that Google will remove it from cache. It Google 404's a link, it retains the page in cache indefinitely.
