Picture problem on skybox

    When I turn on the skybox everythings fine and picture is perfect but if I press any button on the remote the picture becomes distorted and unwatchable. If i put the box on standby its fine when I put it on until I use the remote again. Could this be a scart problem or is it time to get a new box. Any help appreciated.
