Hi all. Does anyone use the Nike+ for your iPod? How do you find it?

I personally found it inaccurate, lacking in features and a nuisance if you dont have the proper Nike + shoes. You cant use the classic ipod either with it, nano only.

Having said that it is very reasonably priced. Id say if you have the correct shoes, use an Ipod nano for running, dont want to fork out the money for a Garmin/Polar and are willing to accept its limitations its worth a shot.

In the end I stopped using my and I found mapmyrun just as useful.

Yesterday's Sunday Times had an article called Paula Radcliff on how to run and the Nike+ is discussed some of the rival options get a mention as well. - cant give an opinion as I use a forerunner 405 and haven't read the article yet.

I have one and find it pretty good.. calibrate it if you buy one. So far I have found it to be with 10-15 feet accurate of mile markers on race days.

Read that article with Paula Radcliffe yesterday. I'd be more of a Forerunner fan because of the additionals functions but I would think that the Nike+ offers a good basic level.

Not being a fan of Nike shoes for training or racing would mean I'd have to resort to wedging the disc into the tongue of my asics or getting the sellotape out to ensure it worked!

I have one and love it (don'thave nike runners) - however you do need to calibrate it very regularly...

Thanks for the replies everyone. Might give it a go and see how it works out. Funkyzeit, what do you mean by calibrate it regularly? Check it the mileage against map my run or somewhere?

I used to use the Nike+ipod a year ago, found it usefully accurate (<>5%). Theres a calibrate function (which I never used) that will increase its accuracy (you run/walk a measured distance).

Also, I placed it in the tongue of my Brooks shoes, cut a slit and placed the foot sensor in. Other hacks are to tie it between your laces, (velcro is useful), but always place it face up, ie flat, as that is the only way it will maintain its accuracy. Do a google search for Nike+ tips.

FWIW I don't use it anymore, the garmin 305 forerunner is vastly superior. However, as others have said, if you're just willing to spend €30, its a good buy.

Saw these for sale in lifestyle sports in Galway a couple of weeks ago for E20 down from E30 so might be worth trying there to see if they still have them

That read like an advert to me.

When is London on this year anyway?

I used to use it, though not any more. I bought this neoprene holder on ebay, for the sensor, which attaches to the laces of any shoe (saves cutting holes in your shoe). If anyone wants it, PM me.

I got one last year and found it reasonably good for measuring my long runs even without Nike shoes - I bought a pouch in the US that clips to my laces.

However I have found its only accurate for runs of the same pace. e.g. if I calibrate using one of my long runs at 8 min/mi pace it will be good for other runs at that pace but when I do a tempo run at 7 min pace, its well off and even worse for a race.

I think its only good if you go at a relatively even pace for all runs.

Does anyone know if Nike have stopped making the sportsbands? I don't have a nano and my brother has one of the sportsbands which he says are pretty good. However their not on sale on the nike store and can't seem to find them for sale anywhere on the web. Apparently there have been problems with them so I wonder if nike have stopped manufacturing them completely.
