Just wondered if anybody knew anything about this IT & Software company. I have an interview with them later this week. As it is a completely new field for me (i am a qualified architectural technician) I just want to make sure I dont make an ass of myself at the interview.....its been quite a while since I did one! ;)

I had an interview with them a couple of years ago for a GIS position that was available, I felt it went well and thought I did pretty good however they never got back to me to tell me I wouldn't be getting an offer. I was not impressed with that, I don't have much time for companies who don't have the courtesy to get back to interviewees just to let them know that they weren't successful.

Still good luck with the interview.

    Hi All.
    Bitsie.
Mallon Technology are a very progressive and quality focused organisation, our website is a very good source of information relating to the company, the About Us section will provide you with a good background of the company while the Products, Services and Latest Case Studies sections will provide you with more project based information.
We hope your interview goes or has gone well for you.

    Charco.
We are sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience of Mallon Technology.
We would just like to say that it is our policy to inform all candidates of their progress in interviews. (Although this appears not to have occurred in your case) We understand your frustration at not receiving a letter.
Please accept our apologies on this occasion.

    Kind regards
    Mallon Technology

The practice of not sending replies to failed candidates is common and very annoying but understandable given that every enterprise is fighting for their lives now.
Any expense no matter how small will be avoided and applicant workers are the bottom of the food chain where expenses are concerned.
The social welfare people are looking for proof of jobs applied for and every "Dear John" letter should be retained on file to prove you are genuinely looking for work.
You must play the game although there is only a microscopic chance of being taken on in this economic climate.
Only those with an indisputably high level of skills, such as doctorates and the like will get the graduate jobs and even then the hoary old chestnut of experience will rear its ugly head.
Those over a certain age will be told the vague nonsense "you don't fit in".
Others will be overqualified, underqualified, too old, too young etc ad nauseum.
Re inventing oneself is the order of the day but God knows what will happen if you get it wrong and the money stops coming in.

rubbish. it doesn't cost a penny to send an email telling the candidate they weren't successful in their application, don't defend incompetence and ignorance. I've worked in IT for nearly 10 years and never heard of Mallon Technology, they sound like a mickey mouse outfit. And yes it's extremely annoying when you make a big effort to attend interviews and they don't have the guts to reply afterwards, I just put the HR contact on an email spam list so they'll learn next time. At least we know that in a recession it'll be HR staff that are the first ones to bite the bullet :) Bitsie i wouldn't worry about not hearing from them, if they spend their time and resources replying to negative feedback on boards.ie they mustn't have much business.
