Mavic X317 Disc Rims

6000 miles on these rims, but just noticed while cleaning the bike today that there is a large crack appearing around one of the spoke holes...so any ideas on what new rims to get (26"inch). Needs to cater for disc brake attachment with a SRAM hub. Any suggestions, stay with MAVIC X317 Disc 32 hole?

    thanks

Can't go too wrong with a Mavic 717 for general riding, relatively light and strong.
If you've got a few extra € to spend, consider going for the 819, its a UST compatible rim - excellent time to make this great upgrade (assuming you're not already using tubeless via a conversion kit..)

Cracking an eyelet is usually a result of an over tensioned wheel. Did you get the wheel built by a shop here or trued up by anyone? What kind of riding are you doing?

Rob the wheel was trued last Dec I usually keep them tight, currently 34km road commute, 4/5 days a week buts the wheels take a battering on the N11, 2008 commuting I replaced 4 back spokes

I'd guess the failure is down to the wheel build rather than the rim, but there could be other causes. Commuting with high pressure tyres is pretty hard on rims, even if they are designed to withstand MTB.

If you consider yourself to be a Clyde (+200 lbs) / you have heavily loaded panniers, then you might put a wider rim / 36 hole rim on the back. More holes will mean a new hub also. For a wider rim, try the xm719. The 819 tubeless version might be cool if they can cope with high pressure! No punctures :-)

Be sure your tyre is not over inflated, according to mavic a 1.5" tyre shouldn't be at more than 88psi on their rims.
