I'm not a fan of rap but you have started a thread that is going to turn into the one just like "Music you hate". Bring your opinion there and try and back it up...

I can foresee that this is going to turn ugly.

Rap before the mid-nineties was good. Before it got commercialised to death.

Come, come. There's every chance that you're white (I don't want to jump to conclusions but..) and you're simply not culturally gelling with the genre. I'm not too eager on Yams but I know of people that devour them.

On another side though rap (in even this honky's ears) it can be remarkably good...Gil Scott Heron, Grandmaster, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, The Streets and Dr. Dre, to name a few, have had excellent albums. Cutting edge both culturally and musically.
In particular Dre's 2001 album. Some weed, speed, a camera with black and white film and the right willing woman and that album is all the sound track a mischievous miscreant requires...Hold up oh yeah.

I'm very much more into indie/folk, but I think what Public Enemy, MF Doom, The Roots, The Cool Kids, Atmosphere and most of what the Beastie Boys have produced is worth ten thousand bands with bad hair and worse lyrics. Don't write off a genre because of some weak Soulja Boy tune or something...

Closed. I've no problems with people discussing their dislikes, but the tone of this thread is simply inflammatory, it's pointless, and I can see this going nowhere nice.
