Which ProTools?

    I've ordered an iMac and I'm about to order an M-Audio Axiom 61. I also have an Alesis I|02 and a Line 6 Pod X3 Live. Does protools only work with an M-Box?

    I can see there are 3 different types of protools, LE, M-Powered and HD. I was just wondering which I should be going for.

    Spending a small fortune to get this running, wana make sure everything will work and I won't end up in tears :o

    If I were you, I'd go with Logic. Protools will only work with Digidesign hardware, with m-powered working with listed m-audio hardware. Logic will do as much as protools for ya.

    I have to use protool, college work!

    So what I understand so far....
    THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LE AND M-POWERED IS THE HARDWARE INTERFACES.

    M-Powered works with M-Audio Geat.

    LE works with DigiDesign Gear.

    So if I get ProTools with an M-Box I will need LE. Does that meen the Axiom 61 won't work with it?

    The axiom should work fine, your alesis audio interface won't.

    Yeah thought so, gonna stick with garage band for a month till i get a bit more cash and get the other gear then. Cheers again Fitz...

    No difference between Pro Tools M-powered or LE except for the Hardware they work with. M-Powered for M-Audio and Digidesign for LE. With the Axiom you should need Pro Tools M-Powered.

    The Axiom's just a usb/midi keyboard...works perfectly well most DAWs, he doesn't need Protools of any flavour for that...

    Thought it was an audio interface.

    Question is how do you use Pro Tools in college and not know the difference between each flavor of Pro Tools. It's the first thing covered in the training. Logic would probably be better. Logical step from Garage Band I'd have thought.

    I'm starting in september, not quite there yet. College will be covering Protools Ableton, Reason and Cubase.

    Until they I will be using it for recording my band. I have expieriance recording with it, never looked into the different versions...
