    How can i help?

    Oh i have a question...

I recently went and got a Strand test, I am naturally very dark haired.

I had blond hair for a few years but haven't been blond for at least three years now. In between the blonde, and now, i put in a few home dyes. The hairdresser told me to steer clear of home dyes when i told her i wanted my lightened again and i haven't touched it with a dye in almost two years.

the result of the strand test proved that my hair was in too bad condition!!!

Now.... I was going to go for a second opinion because i Cannot believe my hair is in bad condition after nearly two years of growth and no colouring.
Not only that - i'm not one of these girls who straightens or curls my hair with heated appliances on a daily basis. nothing like it. I even let my hair dry naturally, rarely blow-drying!! HOW can my hair be in bad condition!?!

...And how can i fix it?? she said i should let it grow for a few more months and then get a good few inches cut off. :(

there could be some posibilities like you didnt cut your hair for a very long time,or even if you let your hair grow after having highlights or colour its not gone be the same, you can try some masks for hair or you can put conditioner in it and leave it for 5-10 min and wash it realy good after, you can just take a little bit from the weight because that is gone remove some hair that is bad and cut just a little bit from the ends if you dont want to have a cut for real..i hope that helped you.thanks

Er....hair masks can't repair hair that's been damaged by dyes or over-styling :eek:

Hair masks and conditioners only temporarily repair the hair shaft, they certainly wouldn't be enough to allow this girl to bleach her hair if a hairdresser who examined her hair said it was too damaged to be bleached!!!

im sorry but that sounds really strange to me.. there is no way your hair could be in bad condition..

hair dressers have something against turning brunettes into blondes. they ALWAYS try and turn you against the idea because

    1. they dont want to the job because there to lazy
    2. there scared they **** the job up.

my friend has dark brown hair and she recently put a garnier blonde colour in its Gorgeous so natural.

Omg people stop hacking my thread

    This is cheeky's problem

    Joke :D

    So my problem.....:(

I was platinum blonde (build up of highlights for about 4 years)

Then i got sick of it and dyed it dark brown with a home dye (l'oreal)

Now i'm sick of the brown and I want to go back but ASAP.

    How can I do it?

Hairdressers said i'd need to start from scratch but that'd take at least a year and I definately cannot wait that long. I want to go blonde asap :(

    What can I do?

I got a LOT cut off cuz it was all "dead" apparently and i've been using a treatment twice a week for almost 4 months now and it's been free from any straightners/colours for at least 5 months now (sooooo hard to do :O)

If you used permanent brown dye on your hair you are on dangerous ground trying to bleach it blonde.

It will take maybe 4-5 bleaching sessions and not all on the same day, and even then there's no guarantee it'll lift the colour anymore than a brassy orangey blonde colour.

This is a perfect example of why you should never use permanent dye unless you want to be that hair colour for a LONG time.

lob it all off lol not sure that's what she wants to do.

What hairdresser told you it would take a year??? Total nonsense in my opinion.

    Those damn permanent box colours!!!!

Ok general opinion as i cant say for sure cause i have no idea what condition your hair is in at the moment but.....

If you want to go back blonde and you still have the brown in your hair the best way would to be to strip that colour out of your hair, It's not the best for your hair but with regular treatments ( not masks or surface conditioners, as someone already said they only work on the surface) you can help to get your hair back to a reasonably good condition.
Then you can start trying to get to the shade of blonde you want. It might a couple of goes but i wouldn't say 4-5, that way too much bleach on your hair, no good hair dresser is going to do that too your hair and if they say they will turn and run.

Alot of people say they have an orange tinge in their hair......mostly they have attempted this themselves and have no idea what they are doing, when you bleach your hair it will go through different colour stages, red, orange, yellow and then white. some of the time you will end up with some yellow/orange patches in your hair and then a toner or a semi would be appplied over the bleach to even out the colour.

haha they had fun making that.

Anyway i'm not a barber so i dont have a clue what they would call it lol i thought you were going to be asking about layers or something, no wonder i was confused when you said the guy with the dark hair.

I dont see how anyone could get this wrong though it is pretty simple, very similar to how i do the fellas hair. The way i would describe it would be a grade 2 back and sides and then blend in the remaining hair on top leaving it just a bit longer. See not a very techinical term lol but it's bascially how it would be done.
